I am a freelance editor who loves to help other writers improve their manuscripts. It takes a lot of effort to write a book, and you shouldn’t do it in a vacuum. Beta readers, critique partners, and editors are needed to get your manuscript in optimal shape for publication.

Why me?
As a traditionally published author, I’ve worked closely with multiple editors from the developmental stage all the way down to the final copyedit. Since 2015, I’ve critiqued tens of thousands of pages in a variety of genres from over 80 aspiring and published authors. I’m known for my constructive feedback, attention to detail, and knowledge of the industry, especially the young adult market. I’ll let you know what I think is working and what’s not. My services are priced competitively because I believe editing should be affordable and not skipped due to cost. |

SERVICES
The Big Picture - $4.50 per page*
This is a developmental manuscript evaluation. I will read with an eye for the overall structure of your story, character arc, and plotting. I will suggest where more details are needed, places the story sags, and areas that are confusing. I will also do a general assessment of the items noted under the more detailed Deep Dive edit.
The Deep Dive - $4.50 per page* (Can be a subset of your manuscript)
This is a line edit and includes a developmental edit of the more detailed aspects of your writing. I will focus on your manuscript chapter by chapter, paragraph by paragraph, and line by line. I’ll provide feedback, so you can apply what you’ve learned to pages not submitted.
For example, I may suggest where there could be more setting or character details or where the structure of the chapter could be improved. I can help you eliminate unnatural dialogue, confusing ideas, and sentence style issues. I’ll help you tighten your prose by highlighting word and sentence repetition, passive voice, POV issues, grammar issues, and inconsistent tense.
* Assumes a 250-word page. Actual charge will be $0.018/word.
Query - $40
Two passes of a one-page query to help you showcase your manuscript and increase your chances of catching the attention of an agent or small publisher.
Synopsis - $50
Two passes of a two-page (double-spacing) synopsis of your manuscript. I can help you identify areas where your story structure could be improved, or where you didn’t represent it correctly.
First Ten Pages - $75
Two passes of these critical pages commonly requested by agents. The first pass will focus on the bigger picture and developmental edits. The second will be on line edits.

How it works… Email me at [email protected] (or use the Contact tab above) with the service(s) you are interested in and any deadlines you may have. I will let you know my availability and turnaround time. Once we agree, I will send an invoice via PayPal before I begin work. For full manuscripts, I can invoice for half the cost before the work begins and the remainder after completion. |
